“Al-Haseeb, Al-Kaafee – (the Sufficient)”

Shaykh ‘Abd ur-Razzaaq al-Badr (hafidhahullaah) comments:

“And whenever the slave has good thoughts of Allaah, great hope for what is with Him, true tawakkul (trust) in Him, then indeed Allaah will never disappoint him. And the slave should not consider Allaah’s sufficing him to be slow if he has taken the means for it, for Allaah will accomplish His purpose at the time that He has decreed for him, and this is why He, ta’aala, said: {And whosoever puts his trust in Allaah, then He will suffice him. Verily, Allaah will accomplish His purpose. Indeed Allaah has set a measure for all things}.

Ibn ul-Qayyim, rahimahullaah, said: ‘So when He mentioned His sufficiency for the one who puts his trust in Him, perhaps that would make one think that the sufficiency will be hastened at the time of (the slave having) tawakkul, so He said after it: {Indeed Allaah has set a measure for all things}, i.e., a time which He will not exceed, thus He will make it come at the time that He has decreed for him. So the one who puts his trust (in Allaah) should not be hasty and say: ‘I had tawakkul and made du’aa, but I did not see anything and the sufficiency did not happen to me,’ because Allaah will accomplish His purpose at the time that He has decreed for him.'”
