leave it to Him

“Allaah will not decree for us except that which is good for us”

Shaykh Falaah bin Ismaa’eel Mandakaar (hafidhahullaah) says:

“What you must do is make du’aa. As for what happens after that, leave it to Allaah, because Allaah will not decree for us except that which is good for us. So we make du’aa and say ‘yaa Rabb, yaa Rabb,’ but if contrary to what we want happens, we must be pleased because this is what Allaah has decreed for us.

So that which Allaah decreed is what is good, and we don’t know where the good is. So you wish to, for example, marry such-and-such person; it is true that what is apparent from his state now is good, but you don’t know, this may change tomorrow into evil and a hundred evils. And what we don’t see as good today, may (actually) be what is good, as Allaah, ‘azza wa jal, said: {It may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you and that you like a thing which is bad for you. Allaah knows but you do not know}.

We must have good thoughts of Allaah, and believe that whatever Allaah decreed is that which is good for us.”
